JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Nooksack Tribal Council, the General Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the organization by working with the Council and other management to establish long-term goals, strategies, plans and policies. The General Manager is also responsible for the overall operations of departments, programs and services provided by the Nooksack Tribal Council for the Tribal membership. The General Manager will supervise the implementation of all management functions of the administration including, but not limited to, Accounting, Human Resources, Planning, Social Services, Housing, Family Services, Enrollment, Education, Information Services, Grant Writing and Program Development, Natural Resources, Risk/Emergency Management, Veterans, Health, Law Enforcement, General Services and Tribal Gaming Agency.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Council as an effective developer of solutions to organizational challenges and opportunities.
  • Achieve financial objectives by providing leadership in preparing and administering the annual program budgets.
  • Provide administrative and technical assistance to Directors and act as professional staff to the Council.
  • Prepare and present progress reports on the status, activities, and plans for the current and future programs to the Tribal Council.
  • Assign, plan, and measure performance results of the department/program directors and ensure they are completing the same with their respective staff.
  • Effectively communicate the Nooskack Indian Tribes values, strategies, and objectives to internal and external audiences.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Master’s degree from an accredited College or University in Tribal Administration, Public Administration, or Business Administration and minimum of five years experience at Director level or higher level managing multiple, diverse departments, specifically related to area of responsibility.
  • Minimum of four years experience administering Tribal programs and working in a Tribal Government.
  • Proven fiscal skills including effective oversight of budgets in excess of $25 million.
