JOB SUMMARY:

The Finance Director serves as the senior financial management official for Nez Perce Tribal Enterprises (NPTE) and provides executive-level financial leadership, stewardship, analysis, and oversight for the Tribe’s gaming and non-gaming enterprise operations.The Finance Director is responsible for the integrity and effectiveness of Enterprise financial management, including financial reporting, accounting systems, budgeting, financial controls, cash and treasury management, audit coordination, regulatory financial compliance, financial planning, and analysis of Enterprise financial performance.The position serves as a principal technical financial advisor to the Enterprise’s Executive Officer and provides timely and accurate financial information, analysis, recommendations, and decision support to Enterprise management and the Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee (NPTEC) through established governance and reporting processes.The Finance Director provides financial oversight across NPTE’s diversified portfolio of gaming and non-gaming enterprises and ensures financial operations are conducted in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable Tribal, federal, state, gaming, tax, and other regulatory requirements, and established Enterprise policies and procedures.The position is responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective financial control environment, safeguarding Tribal Enterprise assets, promoting financial transparency and accountability, identifying and managing financial risk, and supporting the long-term financial stability and sustainability of Enterprises.The Finance Director provides overall leadership, guidance, and direction to the Finance Department and is responsible for promoting a culture of professionalism, accountability, accuracy, collaboration, and high-quality service.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs and oversees accounting and financial management functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable Tribal, federal, state, gaming, tax, and regulatory requirements, and established NPTE policies and procedures.
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes financial documents and reports, including bank reconciliations, budgets, financial statements, cash-flow projections, general ledger reconciliations, payroll reports, tax reports, year-end closing reports, and other periodic or special reports.
  • Reviews payroll activities and ensures payroll-related financial information is accurate, properly documented, and processed in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Develops, evaluates, interprets, and updates financial procedures, operating practices, policies, and internal controls. Monitors compliance and recommends corrective action when necessary
  • Coordinates the annual financial audit with external auditors and performs or coordinates vault audits and other financial reviews. Provides technical expertise and information as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, Public Administration, or Finance.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field and at least five (5) years of progressively responsible finance or accounting experience, including three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Must be able to obtain a Gaming License; requires a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured under the Tribe’s policy. CPA credential preferred

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.
  • Experience in gaming, Tribal enterprise, hospitality, governmental, or multi-entity operations is preferred
