JOB SUMMARY:
The Intergovernmental Affairs Liaison supports the implementation of Tlingit & Haida’s governmental affairs program by coordinating legislative, regulatory, and intergovernmental initiatives that advance the Tribe’s strategic priorities. Under the direction of the Intergovernmental Affairs Manager the Liaison conducts policy research and analysis, develops advocacy materials, coordinates government-to-government engagement, and supports legislative and consultation activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tlingit & Haida is seeking an Intergovernmental Affairs Liaison to support the Tribe’s governmental affairs program and advance priorities related to Tribal sovereignty, self-determination, public policy, and government-to-government relations.
- Based within the Office of the President, this position coordinates legislative, regulatory, policy, and intergovernmental initiatives; monitors federal, state, Tribal, and local policy developments; conducts research and analysis; and prepares testimony, consultation comments, resolutions, briefing
- The Liaison also helps coordinate government-to-government consultation and builds collaborative relationships with Tribal governments, elected officials, governmental agencies, Alaska Native organizations, and other partners.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Native American Studies, Communications, Natural Resources, Environmental Policy, Business Administration, or a related field
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in governmental affairs, legislative affairs, Tribal government, public policy, advocacy, intergovernmental relations, or a related field.
