JOB SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for providing legal administrative and clerical support to the Director of Legal Affairs and General Counsel of the Great Plains Tribal Leaders’ Health Board (GPTLHB). The Legal Assistant plays a critical role in supporting attorneys and other legal professionals by performing various administrative and legal tasks. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Manage calendars, schedule meetings, answer phones, and respond to emails.
• Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents such as pleadings, contracts, and correspondence.
• Organize, maintain, and update physical and electronic case files.
• Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other stakeholders, providing updates and scheduling appointments.
• Assist attorneys with legal research, including finding case law, statutes, and regulations using resources like Westlaw or LexisNexis.
• File legal documents with courts, ensuring compliance with local rules and deadlines.
• Assist in preparing materials for court hearings and trials, including assembling binders and exhibits.
• Input and update information in case management software or databases.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to ethical standards.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and other staff to ensure smooth case handling and support.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience, or associate’s degree and three (3) years’ experience, or high school diploma or GED and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience.
