Attorney Richard McGee will lead us through a comprehensive examination of Preference Law and Policy for Tribes, which covers the legal foundations, policy principles, and practical application of Tribal preference in employment, contracting, and economic development.

Designed for Tribal leaders, Human Resources professionals, TERO personnel, attorneys, and Tribal enterprise managers, the course explores the legal authorities, landmark court decisions, and Tribal governance principles that support Tribal preference and Tribal sovereignty.

Participants will gain an understanding of the various forms of Tribal preference, the role of Tribal Employment Rights Ordinances (TERO), and the policies and procedures Tribes use to administer, enforce, and defend preference programs. Through practical examples and legal analysis, participants will develop the knowledge needed to support compliance, resolve disputes, and strengthen preference programs within Tribal governments, enterprises, and organizations.

Participants who successfully complete the course and assessment will demonstrate a practical understanding of Tribal preference law and policy and its application in Indigenous Country.
