JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Vice-President, Associate General Counsel Gaming, the Staff Attorney Gaming provides legal advice and support to the enterprise and its instrumentalities and enterprises on emerging issues related to the Tribe’s gaming-related legal and legislative positions. Provides recommendations for and assists with a broad array of gaming-related matters under supervision from the Vice President Associate General Counsel Gaming and implements best practices to address emerging legal and business issues related to gaming generally and the Tribe’s gaming enterprises and gaming related projects.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in counseling all levels of leadership and team members in diverse matters related to the Tribe’s gaming enterprise, gaming related legal issues, and gaming legislation. Focuses on areas including but not limited to sports betting and online gaming, emerging gaming technology, state and federal gaming laws and regulations, and gaming related projects.
- Assures best practices and timely updates to address emerging legal and operational issues related to gaming and the Tribe’s gaming ventures. Assists in advising Tribal gaming enterprise stakeholders, including Enterprise Compliance, on a wide array of issues as needed.
- Assists with analyzing and drafting gaming-related Tribal laws, regulations, policies, notices, and other documents in coordination with and in support of other Tribal departments and entities.
- Addresses Tribal, Federal, and State regulatory agency applicability and requirements. Advises on proposed and existing legislation and participates in drafting proposed State and Federal gaming-related legislation.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Juris Doctor from an American Bar Association accredited law school required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a licensed attorney required.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in the areas of Federal Indian law, tribal gaming, and/or commercial gaming, preferred.
