JOB SUMMARY:

The Instructional Design Specialist (IDS) supports the Learning & Development team to meet Enterprise and Tribal needs through leadership development, skills-based development, various learning projects, and organizational development initiatives to promote the training and enhancement of all San Manuel employees. The goal is to support learners in acquiring knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and engaging manner to support a high-performance culture. The IDS works as an integral part of a consultative and collaborative learning and development team responsible for the assessment, design, development, evaluation, and deployment of quality learning opportunities for the enterprise. The IDS reports directly to the Manager, Learning and Development and is responsible for the analysis, recommendation, design, development, maintenance, and quality assurance of online learning modules, live web-based training sessions, instructor-led training materials, and other supporting materials as needed, following an instructional design process. The IDS employs strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video, and audio to communicate and educate our talent.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops training modules and instructional materials that meet key learning objectives, and the target audience needs. Creates and publishes learning content and materials using outlines, storyboards, procedures, policies, etc., to support enterprise and Human Resources objectives. Materials include articles, videos, animations, digital learnings, information graphics, job aids, PowerPoints, etc.
  • Applies tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods to ensure learning objectives are met with the most appropriate and dynamic end products. Defines, designs, and applies the criteria used to measure training effectiveness and develop content assessment instruments.
  • Supports the administrative tasks and logistical coordination of facilitation on behalf of the Learning & Development team, including publishing the monthly training class calendar, preparing the training room, printing/ copying training materials, and engaging in new course pilots.
  • Monitors and brings forward new industry trends and technology for industry leading learning content development.
  • Optimizes the training portfolio and maintains project documentation and course folders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or related field required.
  • Minimum four (4) years of solid instructional design and development experience in a corporate environment as an internal practitioner/business partner providing instructional design services utilizing ADDIE or equivalent instructional design methodologies required.
