About the Certification

About the Certification Program

Drummond Woodsum and the NNAHRA have partnered to provide the Tribal Human Resources Professional (THRP) Certification Program. Since its conception in 2008, THRP Certification is recognized as an essential credential for any HR professional working in Indian Country to further their knowledge and professional expertise. This professional development program provides professionals and tribal leaders working an opportunity to become more proficient in relevant topics, trends, legislation and regulations unique to tribal governments and their enterprises. Become certified and use your Indian Country Human Resources Certification to:

  • Differentiate yourself from others in the Human Resources field
  • Stay competitive and advance your career
  • Demonstrate your expertise in day-to-day workplace experiences
  • Advance the HR profession in Indian Country
  • Protect your tribal sovereignty

Once you become certified, you will carry the designation of “THRP.”

Certification Process

Complete the on-site and/or virtual Certification Training program, in which we will provide you or your staff with a focused overview of the listed training topics.

EXAMINATION FOR THRP CERTIFICATION

Participants will take an examination at the end of the program to test their knowledge of the materials. Participants who earn a passing grade will receive written notification that they are certified by NNAHRA as a Tribal Human Resource Professional (THRP).

Maintaining Your THRP Certification

Your certification is valid for two years from the date it is issued. To maintain certification, you must:

• Attend at least 24 hours of approved, qualified training before your certification expiration date; and

• Submit a certification maintenance form by the expiration date. Students who have registered for upcoming classes that start up to 2 months beyond the month their certification expires will be granted an extension. Students will still need to submit the certification maintenance form by the expiration date. They must note on the form that the class is upcoming and, upon class completion, resubmit their certification form.

Qualified Classes include any of the following:

  • The NNAHRA Annual Conference
  • Any NNAHRA sponsored trainings
  • Drummond Woodsum or Rick McGee-approved trainings
  • Accredited higher learning courses with emphasis on Human Resources and Human Capitol
  • All other trainings, seminars or conferences must be approved by the NNAHRA Board of Directors.

Training certificates of completion and/or other similar documentation shall accompany the certification maintenance form.

**THRP Summit registration must be paid prior to the first day of attendance.

**Current NNAHRA Members seeking THRP certification must maintain active NNAHRA membership.

Payment

Payment is due in full 2 weeks prior to the start of the training.  If payment is not received in full, your registration ticket will be forfeited (with notice) so that another individual may register for the training.

Cancellations

We understand that plans change.  If you find you can no longer attend a program, please contact Adriana Grimes at agrimes@dwmlaw.com or 800.727.1941 Ext. 232.

Cancellations occurring 10 or more business days prior to the event will be eligible for a full refund, less a $50.00 processing fee.

Any cancellation received within 10 business days of the training will not be eligible for a refund; however, you will have a choice between the following options:

1 . Transferring your registration to a colleague; or

2.  Transferring your registration to the next immediate THRP training on the calendar (registration availability permitting). Transferring your registration to future trainings beyond the next immediate scheduled, will not be permitted.

*Please note: If you effectively register for an event, and do not attend the event (no-show), you will still be required to pay the registration fee. No-shows do not exempt participants from payment, as registration secures a spot and commits the organizer to non-recoverable expenses on the participant’s behalf.

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule an event for any reason, including inclement weather.  In the unlikely event of a cancellation, those who have registered for the event will be offered a choice between (a) a full refund, or (b) a credit for a future training.

If you have questions regarding this policy, please call Adriana Grimes at 800.727.1941 Ext. 232.

Participants will take an examination at the end of the program to test their knowledge of the materials. Participants who earn a passing grade will receive written notification that they are certified by NNAHRA as a Tribal Human Resource Professional.

This course qualifies for 21 THRP credit hours.

Participants will receive FREE NNAHRA membership for one year upon course completion (Consultants not eligible for this benefit).
