JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, prepares, monitors and track departmental budgets and performs an extensive variety of accounting transactions for all divisions within the department. Reconciles budget accounts and prepare monthly budget reports. Maintains a fiscal system for and ensures that the financial and operational services are carried out in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles within government accounting (federal, state, and tribal). This job class is treated as FLSA non-exempt.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Budget Monitoring & Tracking: Develops and maintains databases to track budgets, expenditures, and financial data for multiple divisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Financial Reconciliation: Reviews and reconciles budget accounts, ensuring transactions align with accounting principles and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Audit & Compliance Support – Provides documentation and evaluates expenditure activity to support audits, ensuring adherence to financial regulations.
- Vendor & Contract Management – Manages vendor payments, purchase orders, and service agreements to ensure timely and accurate financial transactions.
- Employee Records Management – Maintains a database to track employee status, performance records, and salary adjustments.
- Financial Reporting – Prepares budget reports, revises financial documents, and communicates financial status to department leadership.
- Departmental Coordination – Collaborates with division managers to analyze expenditures, resolve financial issues, and improve budget tracking processes.
- Centralized Financial Processes – Assists in organizing and standardizing financial and budgeting procedures, including contract payment tracking and filing systems.
- General Accounting Support – Ensures proper recording of transactions, maintains financial records, and performs various accounting functions to support department operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: HS Diploma
- Experience: Three (3) years of full-time accounting work
- Alt Education: Associates Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related area
- Alt Experience: One (1) year of full-time accounting work
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Third-party billing
- Public sector experience
- Tribal accounting experience
